I deleted the Google extension fuel wallet when cleaning up junk files. I immediately restored the data, but I failed to remember the mnemonic phrase and could no longer import it into the wallet. Can the mnemonic phrase or private key be found in the recovered data?
If you’ve deleted and then restored data associated with the Fuel Wallet but don’t remember the mnemonic phrase, there might be a chance to recover it, depending on the specifics of the restored data. Here’s what you can do:
1. Check the Restored Data for Wallet Files
- Locate the Browser Extension Files: Wallet extensions like Fuel often store encrypted wallet data in the browser’s extension storage. If you restored the browser extension files, these might include local databases or configuration files.
- Inspect Storage Locations: Check typical storage directories for your browser:
- For Chrome:
AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data/Default/Extensions
(Windows) or/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Extensions
(Mac). - Look for a folder corresponding to the Fuel Wallet extension.
- For Chrome:
2. Check Browser Sync
- If you had browser sync enabled, some data related to your extension might be stored in your Google account. Visit
chrome://sync-internals
or your Google account dashboard to see if any extension data is stored.
3. Decrypt Stored Wallet Data
- If you locate files such as
IndexedDB
,LocalStorage
, or other saved data files, these could contain encrypted wallet information. - Unfortunately, without the mnemonic or wallet password, decrypting these files is challenging. The encryption relies on your passphrase or private key for security.
4. Search Backups
- Check for older backups of your browser or device (e.g., Time Machine on Mac, or any cloud backup service). These could contain older versions of your wallet files.
Important Notes:
- Mnemonic Phrase is Critical: Crypto wallets are designed to be secure and decentralized, meaning that without the mnemonic phrase, recovering access is often impossible.
- Be Cautious with Recovery Attempts: If you find potentially sensitive files, avoid uploading them to online services or sharing them with untrusted parties.
If none of these steps yield results, unfortunately, the mnemonic phrase or private key might not be recoverable. Always ensure mnemonic phrases are securely backed up in multiple safe locations.
Thank you for your help. I know the password and address of the wallet, but I may need some technical support to find the mnemonic phrase or private key in the data.
If you have lost your mnemonic phrase, it is unfortunately impossible to recover it
The mnemonic phrase is a critical security feature designed to provide full access to your wallet, and there are no backup methods if it is lost.
Doesn’t it work even if there is restored extension data? I also turned on the sync function in Google. But I think wallet import still requires a mnemonic phrase
While syncing or restoring browser data can recover the extension itself, it doesn’t provide the mnemonic phrase or private keys for security reasons. If you don’t have the mnemonic phrase, it might not be possible to fully recover access to your wallet.
If that’s the case, then everything will start over for me, but I won’t give up either. Thanks for your help.
For the future, always save your mnemonic phrase. It’s best to write it down on paper.
What kind of file might hold the private key?The file data has been restored, but I don’t know how to find the private key
You can find your private key from your wallet extension
No, the extension has been reset to a new one. Can I restore the wallet using C language? I know the password to open the wallet, but plug-in import requires a mnemonic phrase or private key.
You need to know either your private key or seed phrase. Otherwise, I don’t think so
It used to be useless after I created the wallet. I started using it recently. When I used it, I just entered the password and opened it. But now the wallet plug-in has been deleted. There is no way to import it again.
I am afraid i dont think there is any way to recover the mnemonic unless you have stored it externally.
I restored the data immediately after deleting it with DuBa. The plug-in data index file LocalStorage file should be complete. Is this also possible?
I have access to the private key password. Can I obtain the private key by decrypting the data file that stores the private key?
It’s tough when the mnemonic phrase is lost. Even with the restored data and sync, the wallet’s security is reliant on that phrase. For future wallets, always back up the recovery phrase in a safe place to avoid this issue!
Try all the options that are possible.
